First Descent Tips
Treat early rooms as a tutorial for song swapping, not speedrunning. Enter a screen, mark every hazard and patrol loop, then decide whether you need pull, freeze, or push. Switching songs mid-room is often safer than forcing Charm on every enemy.
If a room feels impossible, you are probably missing a secondary path — Sleep a blocker, Charm a second mob into a hole, then Fear the remaining patrol away from the exit. The demo on itch.io is still useful for practicing lyre muscle memory before longer Steam sessions.
Key tips
- Survey the full room before playing a melody.
- Use Sleep when a single enemy sits on the critical tile.
- Practice song switching in short rooms before boss arenas.
